Helen Kuhn, MS, LPCC
Helen Kuhn is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor specializing in couples and individual therapy, particularly with children, adolescents, and their families at the Center for Couples Therapy. With a passion for helping clients navigate life's complexities, Helen offers compassionate and highly focused counseling services to support clients in defining and reaching their goals.
Helen holds a Master's degree in Child Development and Mental Health from San Diego State University, where she gained a deep understanding of a broad range of therapeutic approaches and techniques. She completed her clinical training at The Center for Couples Therapy in La Jolla, California, and in a special program working with children and adolescents in the San Diego Unified School District. Helen is skilled in addressing various concerns, including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief, trauma, and self-esteem.
Helen believes in creating a safe and nonjudgmental therapeutic space where clients can explore their emotions, thoughts, and experiences. By tailoring her approach to each client's unique needs, Helen empowers individuals and couples to overcome challenges, build resilience, and cultivate healthier relationships.
She utilizes an integrative approach, combining evidence-based modalities such as the Developmental Model, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, PACT (Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy), IFIO (Intimacy from the Inside Out - an Internal Family Systems model), and mindfulness-based interventions. Helen is also one of the therapists who offers Couples Intensive Therapy Retreats. In the near future, she will be offering those on an amazing catamaran located on the island of Coronado in San Diego Bay.
